01

Solicitation

Each year our professional agents, editorial managers, and publishing experts solicit hundreds of manuscripts. Solicitation opens twice per year on our website via open and closed submissions. Open submissions include agency submissions and seasonal requests, while closed submissions include contest winners, upvotes from our blog community, and previous clients.

Our experts comb through well-written queries before reviewing samples and requesting full manuscripts. Despite this large amount of talented writers, we are very selective about the projects we take on and only sign on clients if we feel we have the right timeline, media contacts, and team availability to match author goals.

We invite you to submit your information during open submission periods to explore if we are a good fit for each other.

02

Negotiation

All authors that publish under the Lorecy Ink Books imprint receive a cash advance upon signing the publishing contract. You do not wait until after the delivery and acceptance of your final manuscript, or for the publication date. Advances, royalties, and all other payments vary greatly in both amount and frequency of installments, and are determined by genre, market and publishing trends, etc. We DO NOT own the copyright to your work (please NEVER give that to anyone).

Our publishing agreements request an exclusive license for primary rights to publish your work via e-book, audiobook, digital, and print for a set period of time. This includes first world English rights, first electronic rights, first serial rights, anthology rights, rights to produce derivative merchandise works, domestic distribution rights in North America, and a minimum term of 4-7 years for both single and sequential works. This is quite liberal according to publishing standards. Clients retain all film rights (meaning you can publish your book with us and pitch to Netflix at the same time, we will help!).

03

Acceptance

Our terms can be requested for review by our authors at any time, as we have nothing to hide. All contracts have a termination and reversal of rights clause. We do not force authors who are unhappy with our services to renew at the end of their contract term. We aim to be as transparent as possible with our authors and hope to offer the jumpstart new authors need to break into the publishing world or get picked up by a big 5 publisher.

The Lorecy team took the guesswork and the anxiety out of my journey so that I could follow my passion and write my heart out. I am grateful for the trust I have in them and the guidance and continued support I get no matter what I have going on.
